To enter the giveaway, please leave a comment below with your best marriage advice, answering the question, "What does it take to make a marriage last a lifetime?"
In writing Love to Stay, we conducted a Love, Sex, and Marriage survey of more than 5000 adults. It measured their attitudes towards love, sex, and marriage.
Nearly 100 married individuals in the survey group had been married to their spouses for fifty years or more.
At the end of the survey, these couples shared advice by answering the question: “As someone who has been married 50+ years, what would you say to newlyweds and to people who’ve been married only a few years about what it takes to make a marriage last for a lifetime?”
Here are a few of their candid responses:
- "Respect each other and care for each other."
- "Put Christ first in your life and marriage, then all will follow."
- "Worship together, pray at meals and other times, converse constantly,
have fun, be angry at the situation and don’t take it out on the spouse but when you do make sure they know you are venting at the situation. Talk to a counselor some times. Talk to each other and not some other person about your challenges."
Now it's your turn. Offer your best advice about what it takes to make a marriage last a lifetime, and you'll be entered to win a copy of Love to Stay.
