Fear. We’re hardwired for it. It can be a good gift, intended to protect us from harm. But much of the time our fear is exaggerated, misguided or aimed at that which we need not fear. Fear can cripple us, rob us of life and leave us emotionally paralyzed. Others can use fear to manipulate us. Unbridled fear can lead to hate. Over 140 times the Bible calls us to “fear not,” telling us that fear was a huge issue even for the ancient Israelites and the first Christians.

But we don’t have to be slaves to our fears. Over the last 18 months, I studied fear, how it affects us, and what the experts in the areas of neuroscience, psychiatry, sociology and psychology teach about fear and how to overcome it. I studied each scripture passage related to fear, and looked at our faith and spiritual practices help us to live without fear. I wanted to see how ordinary people live unafraid, with courage and hope.

I’m excited about the release of Unafraid: Living with Courage and Hope in Uncertain Times on March 13. As a part of its launch, I’ll be speaking in D.C., Atlanta, Dallas and Houston. I’d love to invite you to join me for a meaningful evening as I share with you insights from the book and how we can face our fears with courage and hope!
